What to do a week before a marathon

We made it back from sunny Florida!  It was beautiful!  So nice to get away and only think about my workout, what to eat, if I wanted to go to the beach or pool, spa appointments…we were spoiled!  And when we returned, we literally hit the ground running.  I went straight to the junior high to pick up my daughter from cheer tryout AND she made it!!  She’s been on cloud 900!  My husband went straight to coaching at the ball field.  I have a few minutes to write and then I want to dig into laundry, housework, and grocery shopping.  Welcome Home!!

I didn’t take too many pics.  Here are a few.  I kept thinking how much my kids would have LOVED the beach!

Number one on my list is SLEEP!  I’ll still exercise everyday, probably classes at the gym.  I’ll run 3-4 miles 3 times.  I’ll eat what I normally eat and cut out all the stuff I shouldn’t eat. As for my thoughts…CONFIDENCE.  Believe.  Determination.  Endurance.  Calm.  Relax.  Athlete.  Runner.  Patience.  Enjoy.  Smile.

I need to get out and work in my yard before the sun goes down.  Easter egg hunt on Monday!!  Enjoy life and be positive!  Happy Running.  Cherish. (:

Inspiration Monday

Good Morning Monday!  A new week, new goals, and new perspective.  Lately and most often in my life I feel the need to SIMPLIFY (:  It’s as if I’m always saying we’re only busy for this one short time, it will be over soon, or life will calm down…I’ve come to the reality that it never does.  That’s o.k. as long as perspective and priorities are in check.  Sometimes in the early morning hours random thoughts and ideas come to mind.  My lucky husband gets to listen to me think through my half sleepy 4 a.m. inspirations!  Right now my brain is focused on training for Boston, helping with the school’s musical, and personal training.  After the marathon I really want to change my schedule.

I look at my kids and my friend’s kids and we’re starting to send off our oldest and most of our kids are all in school.  I’m not one to dwell on the past or wish my kids would stay young forever, but I want to look back and know that I was there for them and that they knew and felt how much I loved them!  My oldest will be out of the house in just a little over two years and though it brings tears to my eyes, they are happy tears of wonderful memories.  I want to have more remembrances of going on walks, playing outside, and reading books rather than times of rushing from place to place.  I want to be healthy and teach my kids the importance of eating well and exercising but I don’t want to be remembered as the crazy Mom who was always exercising and making them eat weird food (:  That makes me laugh because I might need to claim that one!

Here’s to TODAY!  Another new day and week to work hard, accomplish more, and LOVE every minute of it!  I need to put some quotes and pictures in my weight room and here are a few of my favorites that I might be using!  Never forget (:

I’ll add a couple songs for Music Monday too.  Wednesday I’ll be ALL talk about my fitness and health challenges for the next MONTH!!  Florida is coming up and I’m trying to be a bit of a perfectionist with how I want to look (:  Can’t wait!!!

INSPIRE

So, this will be quick since it’s really after midnight and I skipped a day!  I took my girls to see the new KATY PERRY movie today.  I like several of her songs and I love movies and books about real people.  Learning about her life and upbringing, the ups and downs of her career and personal life were truly INSPIRING!  I love music as well and to give so much to others through your talents is impressive.

A friend of mine gave me this sign that I keep in my kitchen.  There are so many people in my life that inspire me to be better, to keep going, and to never give up!  I want to live an inspiring life, to bring happiness and hope into others lives.  We’re all just people learning from our experiences and mistakes.  When all is said and done I hope I can live a life that portrays the quote,”Good enough isn’t good enough when there is greatness in you!”  My son’s football coach shared this with his team and it’s stuck with our family and we say it often to our kids.

Here is the run down of the day.  Exercise was a 10 mile run with 2 of my friends!  I went to the gym later and worked arms mostly, but a little bit of everything.

Food:

1/2 pancake with peanut butter before my run

2 whole wheat french toast with agave nectar, 3/4 c. canteloupe

protein shake after weight workout

apple and a Zone bar

1 1/2 c. quinoa and veges

1/2 banana, 1/2 protein bar, string cheese

salmon, veges, and 1/2 a low carb cheesecake

We had dinner at The Cheesecake Factory tonight!  My food looked so pretty, I had to take a pic.

I also weighed myself after my LONG run of course and weighed 133 (: I’m silly I know.  I’ll post again tomorrow and then I’ll be camping for a few days so I’ll have to miss a few posts.  I’ll still record what I eat though.  Adios!
