20 and a few favorites for the day!

20 miles Baby!  Well, as usual, time never stops.  My 20 miler came and went!!  The day before I was a little nervous.  I need to chill.  Everything was great!!  I ran with two awesome girls who will be with me in Boston.  It was a beautiful run!  Some of you won’t get this, but I want to write it down to remember the route.  We started at the top of 4th North and ran South until we hit a trail.  Then we kept going on the trail till it almost headed down to Salt Lake.  Turned around and ran the whole length back, till we hit another trail by the B.  We hopped on that one and ran through to the road.  Ran down 4th N. to Davis.  We were at 16 miles at that point.  We ran out 2 miles and back.  The run equaled 20.5 to be exact (:  My legs started feelin’ it when we hit Davis but I stayed with it and we made it.  Yay!!  Great feeling!  They want to run 20 next week.  I might do it in hopes that my body with be stronger and feel better prepared for the marathon.  With that, here is my FAVORITE quote of the day!!

power-clean-exercise-inspirational-quoteWe are getting ready to leave for a weekend getaway with friends.  A very much needed R & R for me!!  I’ll finish quickly with a few more FAVORITES for the day!!!  FAVORITE food suggestion:

Coconut and Chocolate healthy treat

Hello!  I am so proud of myself for accomplishing 17 miles today!  My friend and I ran with a group of girls we rarely run with.  Two of them are running Boston so it was good to meet new friends.  I was a little nervous because they are faster than me.  I think we kept under an 8 minute pace for 10-12 of those miles over a very hilly road!  I felt slightly weaker than them, but I kept up and finished!  It was good for me to push myself.  I love that!  I even think I could have gone a few more miles at the end.  Here is my outfit of the day!  Post 17 miles.  Favorite comfy clothes brought to you by Lululemon.

securedownload-4I also want to share my favorite healthy treat that I found at Chocolate Covered Katie!  Here is my adapted version!  I don’t like mocha so I scratched that!

Mocha Coconut Macaroons

  • 1 tbsp vanilla protein powder
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 cup shredded, unsweetened coconut
  • 1/2 cup lite coconut milk
  • 3 tbsp agave or honey
  • 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • just over 1/16 tsp salt
  • melted 60% dark chocolate chips

Combine all ingredients except chocolate chips in a medium sauce pan.  Cook on medium to low heat stirring constantly.  Cook until firm enough to scoop out.  Scoop into balls on a cookie tray lined with parchment paper.  Cook at 360 F for 14-16 minutes.  Let cool.  Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave 45 seconds at a time stirring in between until completely melted.  Drizzle over the tops of the cookies.  Let harden in the fridge for 20 minutes.  Makes 12-15 cookies.

These tasted soooo much better than I thought they would.  I’ve been feeding them to everyone!!

Lastly, I’ve been thinking about what to wear for my marathon, not that I don’t have enough to choose from already, but I found this cutie orange skirt online yesterday.  I love SUNNY colors!  I might need this (:
LW8414R_013262_2Sitting in my computer chair is not so comfy right now!!  I need to lay horizontal for a few and then I’ll be doing shoulders and abs to keep up with my weight training DAY 3!  Spring is in the air!  I noticed little crocuses peeking out of the dirt during the run today!  Looking forward to GREEN and COLOR!!!  Happy Spring running!

Olympic workout

Happy Friday!  This week flew by with the holiday so I didn’t get to post my OLYMPIC WORKOUT we did at the church on Wednesday.  I have loved watching the olympics, whatever event!  I watched the men’s cross country relay skiing the other day and was amazed by the sheer endurance and stamina of that sport.  When they switched guys, the one racing to the hand off literally falls to the ground in exhaustion.  I’m impressed by that type of athleticism.  Seriously strong!

Soooooo, for all you olympic hopefuls, give this workout a try!  We did it station style.  I had 6 events and we repeated the exercises for as many rounds as possible in 7 minutes and then we rotated through them all.  At the end we had a few contests to see who could do the most of certain exercises in 1 minute.  Loved it!

I’ve been extra tired this week.  I don’t know why except maybe my tooth deal.  I’m still taking ibuprofen round the clock.  Oh well.  I did accomplish a 14 mile run today with two of my friends.  It wasn’t easy.  At this point in my marathon training I tell myself this will be the last one!  As for my fit life challenge, I weighed in at 132 today.  I wanna be 130 by the end of the month or sooner (:  I shouldn’t care.  I feel great.  The diet has been a little challenging but thats to be expected!  I’m hangin’ with it.

I’m finishing up my second 6 week personal training program.  I’m going to take a short break and start it up again.  I love it.  Each round I think of something to improve on.  I’m going to be more organized with my clients information this go around.  I also want to add a few items to my gym.  I’d like a bench, water tank, some sort of shelving to hold towels, and a few more sets of dumbbells.  A barbell and a treadmill would be nice too.  We’ll see (:

One more picture for fashion Friday.  This was on Valentine’s Day!  Love my red boots (:

Well!  I need to go rest my weary bones before the onslaught of children.  I’m glad I got my long run in today.  I can enjoy Saturday and Sunday!! Have a wonderful weekend and Work Hard!!!  Always.

FASHION Friday with a side of hard core WORKOUTS and INSPIRATION

Good good morning!  Happy Friday!  I’ve been a little discombobulated this week with the New Year and kids going back to school on a THURSDAY?  I’ve been getting ready for another personal training session.  Today I need to create my GRAND 6 week diet plan!  We are not messin’ around this time!  I read a statistic that said about 48% of people make New Year’s Resolutions and about 8% keep them.  Well…that just motivated me even more to be the 8%!!  I don’t like to hear it can’t be done.  I have my goals by my bed so I can be reminded of them every day.  Today I have 3 things of interest to me!!  Fashion Friday, Workout Schedule, and WOM.

First, I’m going to have Friday be FASHION FRIDAY day!  Since I kinda like clothes a lot, I should post a different outfit each week.  Some weeks will be workout wear.  Other times I’ll post an everyday outfit or a Sunday outfit.  Whatever I’m in the mood for.  SO…today, this is what I wore to the gym.  My husband picked this out for me.  Lululemon.  Love it!  Only two improvements I would make.  The top needs to be tighter in the middle and a little higher in the neckline.  Other than that, perfecto.photo 1Another great idea with posting photos of me each week is to keep me from cheating on my diets and workouts.  Each week will just get better and better since I am not quitting (:

Second, as soon as the new year rolled over I started thinking about training for my marathon.  I need to get flights booked and plans made!  Here is a marathon schedule I’ve been following for several years now.

0001bnI’m on week 3 right now.  Pretty mild numbers for now.  This will soon change!  Several of my friends are training for different races too so I’ll have lots of company!  I made a rough draft of my new workout schedule.  I’ve been loving weights so much I can’t give them up!

Workout Schedule

 MONDAY-Early AM run/Legs and Shoulders

TUESDAY-Early AM run/My bootcamp class ABS

WEDNESDAY-Back and Bi

 THURSDAY-Early AM run ABS

 FRIDAY-Chest and Tri ABS

 SATURDAY-Long Run

O.K. last subject of the day or the month I should say.  I want to have a WORD OF THE MONTH.  One of my favorites came to mind today and that is INSPIRE.

th

The last couple days I’ve been feeling a little down.  Yesterday, several LIGHTS were given to me to LIFT me up.  Albeit they were small, they were significant to me.  A small thought left for me, an email of love and appreciation from an old friend, and a fun night with my daughter and her friends driving around town with the windows down and the music high.  Working out with my friends this morning also brought a smile and a laugh to me.

Notice the little things around you and remember WHO they are from.  HE knows us and what we need. (:

Day 24

Hello!  Today is Day 24!  I have some new goals and motivators on my mind!!!  What does that mean?  It means I haven’t keep my last stinkin’ goal of 100 days without sugar and I need a new one (:  I’ll tell you all about it on Monday!  I know the suspense will be hard to bear!

This little post will be quick.  I have many things to do and if I don’t keep moving I’m going to fall face forward and be out cold in 2 seconds.  I was up at 4:30 this morning, mostly because I couldn’t sleep, but really because we ran our 20 miles today!!!  YIPPEE for US!!!  There were 4 of us crazies today!  Perfectly cool weather and a great run!  I really have nothing scary to report.  My hips were feeling it near the end and my legs cramped up after we stopped.  I was on a mad search for bananas or oranges and thought a Diet Coke would suffice.  It didn’t.  Other than that I felt GREAT!!  The race is in 3 weeks and the weekly miles will start to taper.  I want to really focus on quality and speed for the rest of my training.  It will be HARD I know.  I’m not a natural at marathons.  Thank goodness for my friends!!!  They are the best.  Lately I’ve been thinking of how blessed I am for the many people in my life that are ANGELS to me!!  I know I am well watched over and I’m grateful to tears (:  Happy tears of course!

Let’s see if I have any cool pictures to share!  Oh, here are a few!  My son and I walked around with a group of his football buddies to check out the high school!  Our high school is the craziest floor plan.  I have nicknamed it Hogwarts and my son thinks it looks like one big bathroom.  It was recently remodeled with a whole lotta tile.  I think it should have been more designed to look like a castle!  Here we are.  Yes, it is my alma mater too!  I’m so proud (:

He looks so happy!

He looks so happy!

Here is a pic. of me and my daughter playing miniature golf!  So fun!  We had a GREAT party for my husband’s work up in the mountains with lots of rides and activities for the kids.  We did have a sudden drop in temperature yesterday and it was sooooo cold!  I’m a baby!

securedownload-1Everything is fine and moving along!  School starts on Monday and it’s a NEW start and a NEW school for all 4 of my kids.  They are a little nervous.  Fun adventures always!  Have a fantastic DAY!!!

A bit of advice for the new school year.

Day 20

Sorry!  I haven’t been updating my fit life, probably because it hasn’t been too fit lately!  I know you are all going to be SHOCKED, but I CAVED a little bit over the weekend with my NO SUGAR challenge!  Those of you that know me  are laughing at me (:  All is well!!  I’m the creator of my own goals, so I will tag on a few days at the end and call it 100 DAYS!!!  Hee hee!  I’m not even going to list the many excuses for falling off the wagon.  I will say that I’m DONE and I’m running far away from that and it won’t happen again (:

Let’s talk about running.  I have reached the hardest week in my marathon training.  I need a 10 miler and a 20 miler this week.  A very small nagging pain has started bugging me a little too!!!  AHHHH!!!  Saturday we ran 15 miles after running 6 miles the day before and my right calf muscle started feeling it!  I rubbed it out, foam rolled it, sat in a cold bath, ibuprofined it, and took a couple days off.  Today we ran 10 miles up the canyon and it felt better, but the pain kind of moved a little to the side of my calf?  Anyway, I decided to try an old person thing (I shouldn’t say that) and buy some compression calf guards.  Here is what they look like:

mcXH4UAONSNxG8La4JUTpIwI’m gonna look sooo cool!  Can you guess what color I ordered?  HOT PINK baby, of course (:  I’m hoping to have them by our 20 miler this Saturday.  I’ll be posting about the success of them!!  This is no time to get injured.

Well, we’re on our last week of summer.  Mixed feelings about the changing of the seasons and schedules.  I’m still loving the warm weather as always.

Have a beautiful day!  After our 10 mile run, my friend and I hit ZUMBA in twinner outfits.  We are kindred spirits!!

Here’s a sweet song.  I want to play the piano on the beach (:

DAY 10

Okey dokey!  I’m a 10th of the way through my 100 TREAT FREE days!  I think I need to stricten up this week!  I’m not having desserts or candy, but I still have white bread now and again.  I do allow myself an occasional sugar free weight watcher chocolate raspberry bar or a RED MANGO frozen yogurt with berries.  I PROMISE this is SUPER healthy in my book!!!  Next week, I’ll set the goal of no white bread.

Well, today we ran 18 miles.  The longest I have run in over a year and it was FANTASTIC!!  I was super careful the day before to eat right and hydrate.  I carried a water bottle with me and divided up 2 STINGER WAFFLES and ate a half of one every 4 miles.  It’s WAY important to test out what you eat and drink BEFORE marathon day!!  The water and waffles helped because I never got tired.  Right now,  I feel a little muscle and joint soreness, but no INJURY SORENESS!  I only have one more BIG 20 miler in two weeks and then it goes down till the race.   YIPPEE!

I have a GREAT recovery idea to share!!  I’ve read in running magazines about taking ICE baths after long runs.  YIKES!  I’ve tried them and they about killed me.  I decided that COLD water is good enough for me.  So, today I went over to a creek near my house and soaked my feet and knees in the water!

IMG_0772 IMG_0767I was going to SIT in the water, but I couldn’t quite bring myself to do that!  The cold water on my knees was good enough!  I even made it through cleaning 3 bathrooms today without too much stiffness.   What I really want to do is take a moment to read a book and doze a bit!  I’m glad I have such good friends to run with.  It would be so boring without them!  And I’m glad I’m healthy and able to run!  What a blessing!

HAVE A HAPPY SUNNY DAY!!!

DAY 1

HELLO!!!  Happy happy day!  August 1st is here!  From today on, I will be naming my posts by what day I’m on in my 100 day goal of NO SUGAR!!!  I will not be eating white bread, candy, desserts, treats, ice cream, or anything on a box that has more than 6 grams of sugar per serving.  YIPPEE!!!  Another great thing about me is when someone tells me I CAN’T DO SOMETHING, I want to DO IT EVEN MORE!!  Stick around till about the 1st week of November and you’ll see my end results.

O.K!!!  Yesterday’s run entered my list of TOP FIVE runs!!!  I’m so glad because it was on the exact race course I’ll be running in September.  My SWEET little running POSSEE ran 14 miles down BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON!!  It was breathtaking!!  Mountains huge on both sides, a beautiful stream following alongside the road, and the morning sky filled with reds, pinks, and purples.  Best of all, I felt great!!  I’m actually not even that sore today and it was some serious downhill!  My yummy icey limeade was waiting for me in the car at the bottom.  I’m glad I have crazy friends to share in this JOY!!  Here’s the awesome pic. that I took at our starting location!

With the start and end of a month, here are my beautimous SUNDAY outfits.  My cute little (not so little anymore) son wanted to be in many of them!  I’ll be back soon with great tips on how to stay sane without sugar!!  Have a happy day!

How to fit into white pants

Happy MONDAY!!  Today started off awesome with a 7 mile trail run!  I’ve been a little worried about my narcolepsy.  If you don’t know what that is, look it up (:  I don’t think one can live a vacation lifestyle, stay at home Mom of 5 kids lifestyle, and a running like crazy exercise lifestyle at the same time without symptoms of narcolepsy!  Lately, this is me on most days!

securedownload-2We’ve taken our kids everywhere, been to concerts, out to lunch, up mountains, and down rivers.  Here we are at a few outings this past week!

securedownload securedownload-1 securedownload-3My favorite day trip was a visit to my Aunt and Uncle’s cabin in Provo canyon.  A childhood favorite filled with memories.  We hiked up a mountain that was falling apart!  We floated down the Provo river on tubes with my 80 year old uncle and cousins.  I was proud that I got all 5 of my children down the river safely!  I can’t say my diet has been totally clean these days!  It’s been too much fun to snack and enjoy yummy summer food.  I think that’s fine if you don’t stay off the wagon for long.  I’m going to try and keep it in check this week so I can fit into my favorite white pants for my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary party on Saturday!  You’ll have to see if I made my goal by what I’m wearing!  I am lucky that I’ll be running 16 miles that day!

After my 15 miler last week, I realized this is the ultimate post workout stretch!!

securedownload-6It was a great run!  I didn’t feel super strong, but at one time during the run, my fastie friend told me to slow down!  What a compliment!

Onto my advice for how to fit into a favorite pair on pants!  Besides running and lifting, which you should do EVERY day as effective and strong as possible, you should fill your body with good fuel!  I follow a fitness enthusiast that helps keep me motivated.  She’s real close to my height and build.  Her name is Erin Simmons.

ErinSimmons_HeaderWhen I get in a non healthy eating rut, I pull out inspirational people’s eating plans.  She also has amazing abs!  Here is a great video for abs that I want to try too!

Click HERE to see here daily eating plan!  For the most part I need to fill up on protein, fiber, fruits, and vegetables.  This will help!!

Next adventure on the list is a 2 day trip to Bear Lake.  This one will be relaxing, read a book condo style trip.  I still want to run or do a killer workout such as 10 sets of 30 burpees and 30 situps!!  I read that workout on Erin Simmons’ blog!  GEEZ!!  I just might try it.  Scary (:
